Holly Holm Says There Was No Hesitation In Accepting Rousey Fight

ufc 184 fight card

UFC women’s bantamweight contender Holly Holm has been closely watched since her transition from boxing champion to MMA fighter, and her title fight in the UFC comes just two fights deep for the promotion. Ronda Rousey awaits her in the main event of the UFC 193 card from Melbourne, Australia, as does the biggest challenge of any aspiring female bantamweight in the UFC landscape.

With the odds stacked highly against her, many have questioned Holm’s legitimacy in this title fight, but her opinion is a farcry from the consensus. Speaking during this afternoon’s busy ‘GO BIG’ presser, ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ said there was no doubt in her mind at all when taking the call to fight the dominant champ:

“There was no hesitation, I don’t have room for that, that’s not a mentality I have in me. I don’t feel that way at all, would I have liked another fight? Yeah sure, but I was talking about this fight long before I signed for the UFC. I like to focus on the fighter in front of me, and now I can focus on Ronda Rousey,””

“The biggest thing is everybody has their opinions about it and that’s great. Anything can happen and I’m very capable, I know I’m up against the best fighter. I have to do everything right, but it’s possible.”

There may be few that believe Holm can pull this off, but there wouldn’t be much point, aside from the insane PPV cuts, for ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ to take this fight if she had no self belief. There have been some staggering upsets in recent times, but Holm defeating Rousey would definitely be the biggest underdog win ever.

Perhaps it’ll be a squash match like ‘The Pitbull’ at UFC 190, maybe it’s going to be competitive, or who knows, are these the final days of seeing Ronda Rousey as UFC bantamweight champion?
