Holly Holm: ‘Jon Jones Is Instrumental In My Training For Ronda Rousey’
Holly Holm is set to fight Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 for the women’s bantamweight championship and is very much taking this fight seriously. So seriously that she’s training with former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
“We’ll shadow box a little bit,” Holm said on the UFC 193 media call on Thursday. “We’ll try not to throw kicks and punches at each other. Obviously he’s not gonna be sparring with me like he would with the big heavyweights. But we have the some coaches, we have the same team. I love to hear his input. Because he’s obviously been able to take what our coaches teach and put it together perfectly,” Holm said during a conference call.
“So I love to hear his input on it and he has been very helpful and very instrumental in this fight camp. A lot of things that sometimes he’ll just brainstorm on that works really well for me, and he’s been great.”
Holm would explain that Jones being back in the gym after putting his legal troubles behind him as been a great thing for the gym.
“There’s been times where he might even come to my mitt session and have some ideas on things that he feels works with my fighting style — and just ideas that he has,” Holm said. “He’s got a very good mind about fighting, and I always appreciate his advice.”
Holm (9-0) is currently undefeated and in her last six bouts, she’s has finished three of them by a finish stoppage.
UFC 193 will be held on November 14, 2015 (in the U.S) from Melbourne, Australia at Etihad Stadium.
