Highlights: Super-Slick Submission Starts UFC 221 Main Card
Light heavyweight Tyson Pedro was looking to make a splash in his home country when he met Saparbek Safarov in the opening main card bout of tonight’s (Sat., February 10, 2018) UFC 221 from the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia, and when the dust settled the Aussie accomplished that goal in stylish fashion.
When Safarov sought a takedown against the fence, Pedro looked for a kimura and locked it on, but Safarov tried to roll out of it. Pedro had the wherewithal to keep the hold and actually improve his position, having the sense to step over his opponent and truly twist it until Safarov had no choice but to tap.
It was the kind of performance that will earn Pedro some hype, and considering he fights in a shallow division such as light heavyweight, a big fight could be coming up for the Sydney-born fighter. Watch the highlights of his super-slick submission right here:
