Hector Lombard Doesn’t Think Matt Brown Deserves “All The Hype”
Matt Brown extended his outstanding run to seven straight wins last month with another vicious knockout over Erick Silva in the main event of UFC Fight Night 40 after twelve minutes of war with the Brazilian.
Brown hasn’t tasted a defeat in nearly three years now, with six of his seven wins in that time all ending by way of knockout. But, if you think everyone is impressed with the 33-year old’s streak; you would be mistaken.
Sitting just behind “The Immortal” at No.7 in the division is former Bellator champion Hector Lombard and earlier today he let his fellow welterweight know that he doesn’t think his current streak is anything special.
Lombard said Brown had “never fought a former champion or a top 10 guy,” before finishing by saying he is not impressed with the Ohio native. You can check out the full tweet below courtesy of Lombard’s official Twitter account:

“”Lightning” was last seen in action at UFC 171 where he dominated Jake Shields for fifteen minutes straight to take a unanimous decision over the former Strikeforce champion. Lombard is now 2-0 since his drop to welterweight with victories over Nate Marquardt and Shields.
Following Brown’s win over Silva there was a lot of talk about booking him to face the Cuban next, but many believed “The Immortal” had done enough to get the next crack at the welterweight title. But it looks like Lombard disagrees.
With both men currently being unbooked and the majority of the division’s top ten all matched up, a bout between the two would certainly make sense. The winner would unquestionably be inline for a title shot next. I guess we will just have to see which way the UFC goes with this.
