GSP thinks talk of Anderson Silva superfight is terrible

Legendary UFC champion Anderson Silva has long been rumored to be set to face longtime Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre in a superfight should GSP defeat Carlos Condit at UFC 154. Silva even stated recently that he would fight St. Pierre whether he won or lost, and Dana White has been adamant about the fight taking place at Dallas Cowboys Stadium. But today, GSP has revealed that talk of the superfight is getting a bit too premature as he feels there is still much work left to be done at 170 lbs.:

“It’s terrible. I hate that, but I’m not focusing on that. I’m not speculating. I’m thinking about Condit right now. That’s what I should do. I feel like I have a lot of guys that are there and I don’t understand why people are going crazy now, but I just came back from an injury, so maybe some people see me as a weak link. We’ll see what’s going to happen in the future.” – via MMAWeekly.com

GSP went on to describe his excitement about returning to the fold in a division that he had once been thought to have cleaned out. He thinks that Condit is being disrespected slightly by all the talk being focused on Anderson Silva rather than the task in front of him. GSP discussed Greg Jackson staying out of the corners of either fighter, choosing to avoid controversy among his students. He avoided any trash talk, choosing to divert his attention to the aspect of the actual fight.
