Although he has proven his skills inside of the Octagon thus far, it’s clear that interim UFC featherweight champion the “Notorious” Conor McGregor is an exquisite trash talker and self-promoter as well.

McGregor will finally meet long-time featherweight champion Jose Aldo in a title unifier on December 12, 2015 in the main event of UFC 194 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two were originally scheduled to face off at last July’s UFC 189, but “Scarface” was unfortunately forced out due to a rib injury.

Aldo has now had to deal with the Irish super star’s talk for quite some time now, and former long-time 170-pound champion Georges “Rush” St-Pierre feels as if McGregor may have gotten into the head of the champion.

St-Pierre also compared the pairing to the infamous rivalry between now-retired trash talker Chael Sonnen and former decorated middleweight champion Anderson Silva:

“I think, if I can make a comparison, of you[Sonnen] and Anderson Silva, I don’t know if I’m right, but it seems like maybe McGregor got into Aldo’s head a little bit,” GSP said on Chael Sonnen’s You’re Welcome podcast. “I don’t know [if McGregor can beat Aldo]. I guess we’ll find out. Aldo is a very smart guy, but Conor McGregor, the way he talks trash, there is a purpose to it.”

“Rush” continued on to compare Aldo to Silva, saying that Aldo has a sense of invincibility that tends to intimidate opponents:

“Most of the guys who have fought Jose Aldo, they’ve been intimidated,” said St-Pierre. “Aldo has an aura of invincibility. A little bit like Anderson Silva had back in the day before you fought him. I think [McGregor] is mentally trying to break that aura of invincibility, but we’ll see. You need to break it physically, not mentally. It’s going to be a very interesting fight. A very nice clash of styles.”

The bout is indeed an interesting clash of styles, and many feel as if McGregor possesses a tough style for Aldo.
