Gray Maynard injured, Joe Lauzon to face Jim Miller at UFC 155
And the injury curse of 2013 continues.
Not too long after Shane Carwin was pulled from his heavyweight showdown with Roy Nelson at the TUF finale, an injury his claimed yet another victim as Gray Maynard has been forced out of his UFC 155 showdown with Joe Lauzon. The announcement was made by UFC officials today.
Maynard reportedly suffered two tears in his knee and will need surgery. According to MMA Weekly, the surgery may only keep Maynard out for 3 to 5 weeks and he could return to action in early 2013.
With Maynard out, Jim Miller will step up to face Lauzon. Lauzon is looking to climb back into the lightweight title picture as he’s fresh off of a “Fight of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” performance against Jamie Varner at UFC on FOX 4. Meanwhile, Miller will be looking to bounce back after dropping a decision to Nate Diaz that propelled Diaz to a lightweight title showdown with Benson Henderson. Miller is 1-2 after winning seven straight.
