Georges St-Pierre’s Coach Not Ruling Out Potential Comeback
Georges St-Pierre’s coach is not ruling out a potential return to the sport of MMA if one fight pops up. The former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion announced his retirement from active MMA competition last month.
GSP’s coach Firas Zahabi believes that the fight that makes the most sense for GSP would be against Conor McGregor. This is a fight that the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion has been linked to since his rise in the sport.
“If Conor came back to win the title, and it’s very conceivable… If he comes back to the prestige he had before losing to Khabib [Nurmagomedov], maybe it will call Georges in,” Zahabi said on the Pull No Punches podcast.
Zahabi also ruled out that GSP retired from the sport only to get more negotiating power when it comes to dealing with the UFC.
“Honestly, if you know Georges, and Kajan knows well, you know he is not that kind of guy,” Zahabi insists. “He is such an honest guy, even if it’s embarrassing. He comes from a small town with good honest people… He is a good egg.”
