Frank Mir Has Reported Opponent For Fight Night 84
Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir (18-10 MMA, 16-10 UFC) is getting back in the fight according to multiple reports. Mir, who is coming off a loss to Andrei Arlovski at UFC 191 by unanimous decision, will be fighting Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 84.
UFC officials have yet to make any formal announcements.
Mir is currently on a one-fight losing streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 3-3. He lost three straight bouts when he fought Daniel Cormier in April of 2013 by unanimous decision, he was knocked out in the first round by Josh Barnett at UFC 164 and then lost in a three round war to Alistair Overeem at UFC 169 by decision. He rebounded with a first-round KO of Antonio Silva in February of 2015. He knocked out Todd Duffee in the first round at UFC Fight Night 71. He lost to Andrei Arlovski at UFC 191 by unanimous decision.
Hunt is currently on a one-fight winning streak and is 2-3-1 in his last six bouts. He lost to Junior Dos Santos at UFC 160 by third-round KO, his fight with Antonio Silva at UFC Fight Night 33 went to a majority draw, but his fortunes would change with a second-round KO win over Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 52. He would lose his next two bouts to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 180 by second-round TKO and then to Stipe Miocic at UFC Fight Night 65 by fifth-round TKO. He KO’d Antonio Silva in the first round at UFC 193.
UFC Fight Night 84 will take place at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia on Sunday, March 20, in Australia, but airs on Saturday, March 19, in North America. The event is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
