Frank Mir vs. Brendan Schaub expected early 2011

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir and rising prospect Brendan Schaub have reportedly agreed to a bout that is expected to take place as part of an unannounced March 2011 card.

With UFC on Versus 3 and UFC 129 both slated for the month of March, either event could play host to what will likely be a main-card Heavyweight clash.

Mir will look to continue building momentum following his dramatic third-round knockout of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic in his last outing at UFC 119 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Having posted a 3-2 mark in his last 5 fights, a win here will be critical for the veteran as he looks to make another run at the division title.

After dropping his first official match-up with the promotion as a finalist in the TUF 10 Finale, Schaub has bounced back strong with three straight victories, including two first-round TKO’s and a one-sided decision win over Gabriel Gonzaga.  With title hopes of his own, he receives a well-deserved step up in competition in Frank Mir, who will undoubtedly be his toughest test to date.
