Former UFC MW Title Challenger Patrick Cote Is Heading To The Welterweight Division

My, how times change.  After losing his opponent for UFC 158 in March, former Middleweight contender Patrick Cote announced on Twitter that he will be making the cut to 170 pounds.

MMAjunkie.com first reported the weight cut, which came on the heels of a cancelled rematch with Alessio Sakara due to injury, which was supposed to settle a score between the two after Sakara was disqualified for strikes to the back of the head while attempting to finish Cote.

With the DQ win, Cote has won 5 of his last 6, yet has lost 4 of his last 5 fights in the UFC.  The disqualification likely saved the Canadian native’s job, and a shift to a lighter weight class may stop the Octagon skid that “The Predator” has been on.  Who will welcome the former Middleweight contender to 170 pounds?  Could we see Patrick Cote return to his winning ways in a lighter weight class?  Time will tell.
