Fedor Emelianenko Won’t Comment On Pay For Next Fight
MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko is scheduled to fight for the former Pride President Nobuyuki Sakakibara in his new MMA promotion (Rizin Fighting Federation) on December 31st, 2015.
While an opponent has not officially been named for him at the December event, it’s been reported that Jaideep Singh, who is 1-0 as an MMA fighter, would be Fedor’s opponent.
It has been reported that Emelianenko will earn $2.5 million guaranteed for the show and has signed a two-fight deal with the newly launched promotion. The first fight will be on December 31st, but the second fight is an option. That option is that Nobuyuki Sakakibara has the option to either pick up or decline Fedor for a second fight.
When asked in a recent interview if this true, Emelianenko had no interest in answering it.
“I’m not going to comment on the various rumors from the press, “Emelianenko told Championat.. “Information on the fees for my own fight is something that only two people know – that’s Mr. Sakakibara and me. For more information on this and other questions, I’ll answer the official press conference.”
Emelianenko hasn’t fought since October 7th, 2011, which was when he announced his retirement following a first-round knockout of Pedro Rizzo. Emelianenko is 3-3 in his last six, but after a three-fight losing streak in his last three Strikeforce appearances, he ripped off three straight wins. In his last two bouts, he won by first-round knockout over less quality opponents. At 38-years of age, Emelianenko is back for another stint in his legendary career.
