The big question coming out of UFC 191 was the heavyweight division. The champion, Fabricio Werdum, is set to to defend his championship in a rematch with former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez soon. However, when exactly will this be taking place is a big question. Many have speculated on when the fight will take place since their original fight back at UFC 188.

It was reported on Wednesday’s episode of UFC Tonight by Ariel Helwani that Werdum is ready to fight as soon as December. He’s not sure as to how this talk of him not being ready until March is coming from. Werdum also doesn’t have any injuries currently and is just waiting on a call from the UFC to fight.

Following UFC 191, UFC President Dana White explained that Werdum did not want to fight until March.

“The fight won’t happen probably until March,” White said when asked about whether Andrei Arlovski would get a shot after Velasquez. “That’s when Werdum wants to fight…Unfortunately, this heavyweight division is tied up right now. We’ll see how this thing plays out and go from there.”

The heavyweight division has a few potential title contenders that are just waiting to fight. Cain Velasquez was criticized for not defending the title enough due to the several injuries that he had to deal with during his title reign. Thus the reason the Werdum wanted to clear the air and have it publicly known.
