Fabricio Werdum: I Will Beat Cain Velasquez Again

Well, the fight has a date finally.

UFC President Dana White confirmed on Wednesday that Fabricio Werdum (20-5-1 MMA, 8-2 UFC) vs. Cain Velasquez (13-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) 2 will take place at UFC 196. Werdum beat Velazquez to win the heavyweight title at UFC 188 after a dominant performance. Now, they’re going to do it again. 

Werdum explained in a recent interview with Combate that he feels that he can beat Velasquez again. Also, He wanted to have the fight in Brazil, but that won’t happen. Instead, the fight will take place in Las Vegas. However, Werdum still has hope that he will fight in Brazil one day.

“I’m really happy to have settled on this date.  Of course, I really tried to make it happen in Brazil, but it didn’t work. I’m sure I’ll have another opportunity to fight in my country in the future. Actually, my coach, Rafael Cordeiro had already foreseen I would beat Cain, and we would rematch in Las Vegas.””

“I will beat Cain again. I don’t mean to be arrogant, just confident.”

Werdum (20-5-1) is currently on a six-fight winning streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 6-0.

UFC 196 takes place on Saturday, February 6th, 2016 from Las Vegas, Nevada with the main card airing on pay-per-view and the prelims airing on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. A venue for the event has not been announced.
