Eddie Alvarez vs. Anthony Pettis Full Fight Video Highlights

After losing his belt to Rafael dos Anjos in one-sided fashion last year, former lightweight champ Anthony Pettis was seeking to fight his way back into title contention when he met Eddie Alvarez in the co-main event of last night’s (January 17, 2016) UFC Fight Night 81 from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

However, it didn’t go quite as planned when he met ‘The Underground King’ in the Octagon, as Pettis’ glaring weakness of wrestling shone through when Alvarez predictably implemented a pressure-heavy gameplan with endless takedown attempts. Several were successful, and even though Pettis was able to land his trademark kicks throughout the bout, it wasn’t nearly enough to win the bout overall as Alvarez took home a split decision for arguably the biggest win of his career.
