Lightweights Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier and “Irish” Joe Duffy were set to do battle in the main event of this past weekend’s (October 24, 2015) UFC Fight Night 76 from Dublin, Ireland, but Duffy was forced out of the bout just days before after he had unfortunately suffered a concussion.

“The Diamond” was reportedly offered a bout with another Irishman in Norman Parke, but he turned it down and was also scrapped from the card. Poirier stated that he was still interested in squaring off with “Irish” Joe and it looks as if he will get his wish.

It was announced on tonight’s (October 28, 2015) edition of UFC Tonight that Poirier and Duffy will fight at January 2’s UFC 195 from Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC 195 is being headlined by a highly anticipated welterweight title clash between “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler and “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit.

Poirier, a former top five featherweight contender, made his move up to 155-pounds after suffering a TKO loss to Conor McGregor last September. Since then, “The Diamond” has rattled off two-straight impressive finishes over Carlos Diego Ferreira, and Yancy Medeiros.

Duffy on the other hand, despite being most known as the last man to beat McGregor, is 2-0 in his UFC career having scored back to back finishes over the likes of Jake Lindsey, and Ivan Jorge.

Both lightweights will be looking to continue their climb up the divisional ladder come January. Who are you picking?
