Don’t Call It A Comeback: Anderson Silva Cleared To Resume MMA Sparring
Anderson Silva had one hell of a bad year in 2013, firstly losing his middleweight title in shocking fashion at UFC 162, and then suffering a career threatening injury in his rematch with Chris Weidman at UFC 168 in December. Lesser men may have called it quits, but ‘The Spider’ has never wavered in his desire to return.
Just seven months removed from his brutal leg break against ‘The All-American’, Silva posted the following to his twitter account:
Aí galera uma notícia boa, hoje e meu primeiro Sparring de MMA depois da fratura na perna Dr márcio Tanuri liberou. pic.twitter.com/PnjKse7LZ8
— Anderson Silva (@SpiderAnderson) June 20, 2014
For those of you that don’t speak Portuguese, ‘The Spider’ is saying that following a meeting with Dr. Marcio Tanurre, he has been cleared to resume MMA sparring. This is a huge leap in Silva’s ambition to return to UFC action, and restart his quest for the title he once held with such conviction.
I have to say, it is both inspiring and boggling how fast Silva’s leg seems to have healed. Could this be a sign that the former kingpin will be back in action before the year is up?
