Diego Brandao vs. Jimy Hettes Rescheduled For UFC on FOX 15
UFC featherweights Diego Brandao and Jimy Hettes will have a second chance to battle it out after their first bout was canceled earlier this year.
After Hettes fainted after the UFC 183 weigh-ins leading into their previously scheduled bout, promotional officials were left with no choice but to strike the bout from the January 3 card from Las Vegas.
Tonight (February 23, 2015) they announced that the two struggling 145-pound competitors would face off at UFC on FOX 15 on April 18 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Both fighters will be forced to pick up a win, as they haven’t exactly been on top of their respective games recently. The winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14, Brandao has lost two straight by striking stoppage, with his latest result a first round TKO at the hands of Irish star Conor McGregor at last July’s UFC Fight Night 46 from Dublin.
His prior loss came to perennial top-ranked featherweight Dustin Poirier, who has since moved back to lightweight, as December 2013’s UFC 168.
Meanwhile Hettes has seen a similar run of bad luck after debuting in the UFC with wins over Alex Caceres and Nam Phan. He was last seen losing by TKO to Dennis Bermudez at March 2014’s UFC 171, sending him to his second defeat in three fights.
UFC on FOX 15 features a stacked card headlined by a pivotal middleweight main event between Lyoto Machida and Luke Rockhold in addition to another middleweight bout with title fight implications in Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza vs. Yoel Romero.
