Daniel Cormier Hypes Retirement Fight: ‘I’m Ready To Feel It One Last Time’

Daniel Cormier

Daniel Cormier has one fight left in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, and he’s ready to make the final walk.

“DC” took to his Twitter today (Tues. October 1, 2019) to hype his retirement fight, saying he’s “ready to feel it one last time.”

Cormier comes off the second-ever loss of his MMA career, as he was finished by Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 in August via fourth-round TKO. As a result, Cormier dropped the UFC heavyweight championship. Cormier had knocked Miocic out in the first round of their initial meeting in 2018. Now, at one apiece, a trilogy bout is what’s next on the agenda, but likely won’t happen until 2020 due to a Miocic injury.

Despite this, Cormier confirmed in a recent interview that the next time he makes the walk to the Octagon will be his last, and the opponent has to be Miocic.

“I’m gonna fight this guy again,” Cormier said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. “My intention is to fight him in the right way and hopefully, that’s enough to get my hand raised. But I’ll go fight him again. Win or lose, I’m not fighting again.

“This will be the only time I ever step foot in the Octagon again. The next one will be the last one. It has to be Stipe. No one else matters.”
