Dana White Had A ‘Good Talk’ With Francis Ngannou Amid Contact Tension
Dana White has provided a slightly positive update on his relationship with Francis Ngannou, whose UFC contract is almost up with no sign of an imminent renewal.
During a recent interview with Teddy Atlas, White slammed Ngannou’s management for misguiding the heavyweight champ while also revealing he and ‘The Predator’ are on pretty good terms right now.
“Francis and I bumped into each other the other night at dinner and we had a good talk and he’s not out of contract, if he wins that fight,” White said. “I think he’s got one more fight with us after that. You know, I say it all the time man, this sport’s fun for me, I love doing this you know and contrary to the narrative out there you know, we’ve made a lot of people very wealthy. And if you don’t wanna be here, this is not where you want to be well, that’s not fun for you and it’s definitely not fun for me either.”
“So these are all grown men and women and everybody has to make their own decision in life and go down their own paths,” White continued. “But I think that Francis and I had a good conversation. I think Francis has been misguided too by some people that aren’t very bright you know, that doesn’t help either when you got some people behind you that have no fu****g clue what they’re talking about.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)
Dana White’s Relationship With Francis Ngannou Soured In 2021
Ngannou seemed set for a bumper 2021 when he knocked out Stipe Miocic to claim heavyweight gold in February at UFC 260.
Unfortunately, things didn’t quite pan out and the Cameroonian knockout artist hasn’t fought since and has seen his reign as champion challenged by the creation of an interim title, which has been picked up by Ciryl Gane.
The former teammates are set to unify the heavyweight division at UFC 270 on January 22.
Do you think Dana White will convince Francis Ngannou to re-sign with the UFC?
