Dana White Confirms Israel Adesanya vs. Paulo Costa Is Next

Adesanya Costa

Israel Adesanya’s next fight will be a middleweight title defense against Paulo Costa.

That’s according to UFC president Dana White who was speaking to TMZ recently. Adesanya became the undisputed middleweight champion following an impressive knockout victory over Robert Whittaker at UFC 243 last week.

Costa was in attendance and the two set the wheels in motion for a fight by trash talking each other during the post-fight interview. However, another potential bout that has fans salivating is Adesanya vs. Jon Jones.

The two have gone back-and-forth for a while and it only continued after UFC 243, leading to speculation that Adesanya could move up to light heavyweight and face “Bones.”

While White likes that fight, he seems adamant that Costa is next:

“Listen, that’s a fun fight, but the next fight is Paulo Costa,” White said. “That’s the fight to make next. And if a Jon Jones fight is possible down the line, I like it. I like it a lot.”

Adesanya, himself, has stated that he has to clear out a couple of guys in the middleweight division before facing Jones in a super fight. He also predicted they would end up clashing in 2021 at the Raiders Stadium in Las Vegas.
