An exciting rematch for the UFC women’s strawweight title is on the horizon, as news breaks of Joanna Jedrzejczyk getting her next opponent. Claudia Gadelha earned herself a title shot and another fight with Joanna Champion, as she swept the scorecards against Jessica Aguilar at UFC 190. ‘Claudinha’ shined en route to the one-sided win over Aguilar, and will hope to avenge the razor tight split decision loss to Jedrzejczyk in 2014.

The 27 year old Polish striker went on to defeat Carla Esparza at UFC 185 to win the 115-pound strap, and has since defended it with an impressive win of Jessica Penne this past June. UFC president Dana White confirmed the match via his Twitter feed:

With both nursing recent injuries, and no host event yet revealed, it’s likely this collision of fiery strawweights won’t go down until late in the year, potentially even early 2016. The first fight between Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha was exciting to watch, and many feel it could have gone either way. It was clearly a defining victory for the champion, as she has only gone on to get much better since.

Could ‘Claudinha’ have the champion’s number though? Thus far Gadelha has pushed Jedrzejczyk further than anyone before or after the fact, and the Nova Uniao BJJ black belt looked very convincing in her Brazilian victory this past weekend (Saturday August 1st, 2015).

Either way it’s a great fight, but do you feel another strawweight champion being crowned when Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Claudia Gadelha 2 goes down?
