Dan Henderson Still Wants Jon Jones Fight, Thinks Bones Is Not Genuine
Dan Henderson has had one of the most incredible MMA careers, he was a two weight Pride FC champion, the LHW Strikeforce boss, the Rings Tournament champion, the UFC tournament winner, a wrestling hall of famer and the only man to ever KO Fedor Emelianenko.
Henderson will look to continue his success in MMA with a win against Rashad Evans at UFC 161, it didn’t seem that long ago that Hendo was gearing up for a fight with Jon Jones. Henderson was forced to withdraw from his UFC 151 title shot at Bones, and has subsequently lost his place in the title queue. He lost a disappointing decision to Lyoto Machida at UFC 157.
Henderson was on hand to talk to MMAFighting.com about Jones and Middleweight champion Anderson Silva:
“”I’d like to fight Jon Jones more than I’d like to fight Anderson Silva,” said Henderson. “Just because I have less respect for him as a person than Anderson. He’s not genuine. I think how he portrays himself is not how he really is. I think the fans have picked up on how he really is, as well.”
It’s hard to deny that Jones has a bit of an attitude, but with a skill set such as his comes a certain amount of ego. Henderson did elaborate:
“A lot of it is probably because he’s young and he got catapulted into the public eye, and he’s trying to portray himself in a different way, But he should just be himself.”
So if Hendo is victorious at UFC 161, should he be considered for another title shot? If so, would he stand a chance against the long time boss at 205? Stay tuned to Lowkick!
