Cub Swanson Prevails In Epic Battle Over Doo Ho Choi

In the most pivotal fight of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, Dooho Choi (14-1) stepped inside the Octagon at UFC 206 to meet Cub Swanson (23-7).

This was a fight to remember.

Choi swung a straight right off Swanson’s leg kick. He landed a few knees in the clinch. Choi went for a kick high. Swanson landed a jab and a right hand. Some swelling formed around the right eye of Swanson. Choi landed a right hand. He got hit with a right hand shortly after. Choi trapped the head of Swanson and threw a knee. Swanson found his back against the fence. He landed a knee to the body. Choi threw him off and landed a jab. A hard right hand to the body landed for “The Korean Superboy.” Swanson went for a takedown near the end of the round, but it was stuffed.

Round two began and Swanson looked to back Choi up. He landed a knee to the body in the clinch. Swanson swung for the fences and had Choi rocked. Choi landed a hard shot of his own. Choi rocked Swanson and had him reeling against the fence. Swanson took Choi down and got full mount. He took the back of Choi, but Choi scrambled out of the position. Swanson landed an elbow before Choi returned to his feet. Swanson threw a cartwheel kick and hyped the crowd up. A right hand from Choi clipped Swanson. Swanson tagged Choi with a right hand. He landed a spinning backfist, but Choi remained on his feet. Choi landed a knee to the body. The round ended to a standing ovation.

Swanson came out swinging with an overhand right followed by an elbow. A right hand landed for Choi followed by a jab. A body kick connected for Swanson. A right hand from Choi found the target. He landed a knee to the body. Choi got a hold of Swanson’s back and took him down. Swanson reversed it and ended up in full guard. Choi got back up, but ate a right hand from Swanson. Choi wound up on his back briefly from a judo toss. Swanson had Choi staggered with strikes and knocked him down. Choi survived to hear the final horn sound. Tremendous fight.

Final Result: Cub Swanson def. Doohoo Choi via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
