Cris Cyborg: Hey Ronda, Come Out From Behind The Pillow

FotorCreated 29

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has made history during her time under the promotion, featuring a number of records that could well go unbroken for many years. She arguably helped spearhead the initial explosion of women’s MMA in the mainstream, but still she has proved to be one of the most loved and hated figures in the spot. Perhaps it’s just the way she was portrayed during her dominant reign as champion, or maybe you could attribute the negativity to a certain amount of jealousy or just immaturity. Whatever the case, ‘Rowdy’ faced a lot of these bad vibes in a sudden deflagration following UFC 193.

This, and many other hurtful memes made Ronda Rousey‘s shocking KO loss to Holly Holm one of the most broadcasted and viewed moments in MMA history. The mixed martial arts community seemed to revel in the fact she’d fallen with such a thump, although as previously discussed it probably had a lot to do with the UFC’s ‘in your face/down your throat’ style of promotion. For all her hard work and crazy finishes inside the octagon, it seems as though Rousey had made very few friends, and a whole line of enemies.

One such enemy includes ferocious Invicta champion Cris Cyborg Justino.

The hard hitting former Strikeforce champion finally signed with the UFC this ear, but sadly a little too late to capitalize on her stewing beef with Ronda Rousey. During the former champions tenure she blasted Cyborg Justino as a ‘steroid junkie,’ and UFC president Dana White even joined in, poking fun at Justino as ‘Wanderlei Silva in a dress.’ How the tables have turned, as Rousey ate her words in front of millions, and now it’s her Brazilian foe who’s taking every opportunity to lambaste ‘Rowdy.”’

Don’t think that because Rousey is on a break from fighting, Cyborg isn’t going to takes shots at her. This recent intervew shows the Brazilian brawler is not pulling her punches, and you’ll want to check this out…

Cris Cyborg tells our good friends over at Submission Radio that she’s tired of seeing Rousey hide. She also feels the ex-champion needs to take the loss like a man:

“You know, Ronda Rousey before, when she started training, I was already world champ, and she started training, she started talking about me. And she made this game, saying she wanna fight me. And when I’d say I wanna fight her, she ran from the division – before that she was in my division – she went to 135. And you know, I don’t know if she will come back fighting after the Holly Holm fight. But it’s really normal when you lose or win. You know, you’re a fighter. You don’t need to be behind a pillow, and she did [that]. But I can fight her anytime. You know, she just has to accept the weight. She cannot be like, “ahh It’s just 135”. If you want to challenge yourself, we can fight at 140. She said this just because she wants to run from me for a long time, you know. And I think it’s a big fight that people want to watch. I think all the fans want to watch this fight, not just because me and her are great fighter but because she likes to speak so much.”

“You know, I don’t think if Ronda would be the champ at 135 again – I think she would still run from me. I think she’d have an excuse, “ah, I don’t want to fight her, just 135”. I think it would be the same. Don’t change. Maybe she’s fighting – I don’t know. But I think if she’d be world champ again, I think she would still run from me. Or maybe not. Or maybe she’s gonna challenge herself and stop talking and do something in the octagon.”

“Before when Werdum fought Cain Velasquez, Cain Velasquez lost and everybody wanted to make rematch. And this didn’t actually happen because Cain Velasquez [got] hurt. And now McGregor will rematch Nate Diaz, and Nate Diaz submitted him, bad. And everybody watched this fight, and he has a rematch I think at UFC 200. And I don’t know why Holly Holm cannot have her rematch with Miesha Tate. You know? I don’t understand. And then say ah wanna fight Amanda Nunes? I understand Amanda Nunes is in the line. I think she’s been in the line long time, before Ronda Rousey. I think she’s in the line. I think Ronda has to have one more fight before she fights Miesha. And because I think Amanda waited for the belt a long time, I think it’s a bigger deal for her. But I think Holly Holm deserves the rematch.”
