Conor McGregor Applies For Trademark Of ‘Notorious’ Nickname
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor doesn’t do all of his fighting inside the Octagon.
Now the brash Irishman finds himself trying to save his image rights and likenesses, as he has registered two more trademarks such as ‘The Mac Life’ and ‘The Notorious’; while a barber in Ireland is filing for the trademark ‘Notorious 13’ in reference to McGregor’s 13-second knockout of former featherweight king Jose Aldo.
TheTimes.co.uk first reported:
“McGregor, whose fighting nickname is the Notorious, applied on July 7 to register a series of trademarks in Ireland, including his name, and the phrases “the Mac Life” and “the Notorious”.
Earlier this year the Grafton Barber, a company with 28 barber shops, applied to trademark “Notorious 13″, a reference to McGregor’s 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo.”
McGregor is currently set to meet Stockton Native Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 202 live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20, 2016.
The 145-pound champ also already has an interim champion waiting to welcome him back to the division once he finishes up his welterweight tenure with Diaz in McGregor’s old friend Jose Aldo, who just took home the interim strap in a five-round war with former 155-pound champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 200.
McGregor and Aldo are expected to meet inside the Octagon once again in order to unify the two titles sometime in the near future.
