Artem Lobov Believes Conor McGregor Will Return To Competition
Conor McGregor’s teammate believes that fight fans will see the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion compete again.
McGregor’s closest teammate and training partner Artem Lobov addressed the possibility of McGregor returning. This comes after McGregor announced his retirement from the sport of MMA.
Although many people actually believe this is a real decision to walk away from the game, Lobov strongly suspects McGregor will be back in the cage before too long. He elaborated on his mindset during an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN.
“I don’t actually know much info on that but one thing I do know, I know that Conor absolutely loves the fight game,” Lobov said (H/T to MMAFighting). “He truly loves it. Look, I always say this, 99 percent of people in the UFC would be gone if they have made $100 million. They just wouldn’t be there anymore, and he’s still there. Why? Because he loves the fight game. He loves fighting. So I know he’s got something special in store for us, that’s for sure.”
“I think [he will fight again],” Lobov said. “I think he will definitely put away a few more guys. I just know him. I know he loves this game. He loves the fight game, and this is not just a job to him. This is him. He is the fight game.”
Lobov takes on Jason Knight in the main event of Bare Knuckle FC. In his last three fights, Lobov would go onto to lose to Cub Swanson in April 2017 then to Andre Fili in October and Michael Johnson this past October. All of these fights saw him suffer defeat by unanimous decision. Lobov went 2-5 in his three-year UFC run.
