UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is under investigation by police for a photo he posted to social media. The Irish star appears to be holding some sort of firearm…

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is the name on everybody’s lips right now. Often never far from the scene of some headline beef or classic interviews, ‘The Notorious’ completed his rise to prominence in the UFC with a shocking 13-second knockout over the undisputed boss Jose Aldo. The Brazilian’s 10-year reign at the top took less time to end than a microwave dinner.

It was a smash and grab by all accounts, and now he has a target on his back. Every fighter wants a piece of the McGregor pay-per-view pie, but there’s someone else with their nose in the Irishman’s business right now too. He posted it to Instagram with the caption ‘Put the fight game in the bag and step away from the vehicle’. It’s obviously caused enough of a stir that the police have become involved. Telling the source of this article at Indipendent.ie the following:

“We are investigating the circumstances under which the photo was taken. Gardai from Crumlin are investigating.”

There are many interesting questions raised from this newly arisen story, mainly centered around whether this gun is real; chances are, he isn’t stupid enough to be carrying a real firearm around and posting photos to Instagram for his hundreds of thousands of followers to see.

Then again , we’ve seen crazier and much dumber things happen in the past, but you’d think ‘The Notorious’ would be a little more swift than to be caught in such a foolish trap of one’s own making.smr-main-image7322[1]

Set to move to lightweight to fight for the title next, much to the dismay of Frankie Edgar, the future is bright for McGregor, as long as this gun isn’t real.
