Conor McGregor And Max Holloway Involved In Recent Twitter Spat

Conor McGregor

Former UFC champions Conor McGregor and Max Holloway were once thought to be on mutually respectful terms, but not anymore after the two of them went back-and-forth on Twitter.

McGregor is still recovering from the leg break he suffered at UFC 264 in his trilogy with Dustin Poirier. He’s hinted at an octagon return sometime next year, although nothing has been set as of yet. McGregor has also hinted at a return to boxing shortly.

Holloway is in the middle of fight week for his UFC Vegas 42 main event against Yair Rodriguez this weekend. He’s coming off arguably the most impressive performance of his career against Calvin Kattar earlier this year.

Conor McGregor and Max Holloway Could Clash in an Octagon Rematch

McGregor and Holloway, once opponents in the octagon during the early parts of their careers have seemed friendly with one another in recent years. But things ramped back up towards a hostile direction after they were involved in a bit of a Twitter back-and-forth.

Below are parts of their spat.

A few of the since-deleted tweets are highlighted in this video.

Holloway has said in the past that he anticipates a return to lightweight at some point, after losing the interim lightweight title to Poirier at UFC 236. A lightweight bout between McGregor and Holloway could most certainly happen for McGregor’s return to the octagon if the timing plays out the right way.

During the banter, Holloway took a shot at McGregor for his recent alleged assault of Italian DJ Francesco Facchinetti earlier this year. Facchinetti has since filed charges against McGregor and the investigation is still ongoing.

McGregor and Holloway could be on a collision course once again in the UFC octagon, as both look to work their way to UFC gold in their respective divisions.
