UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor took home yet another award to display in his trophy case, when he was voted Best Fighter at the 2016 ESPY awards this week.

McGregor took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the award, and while he is preparing for a rematch with Nate Diaz later next month, the Irishman claims he is also sharpening his tools to take out everyone who has spoke ill of him since his defeat in March:

“It is an honour to take ‘Best Fighter’ at the prestigious ESPY awards! I am deep in preparation to come and take out everyone that has spoke my name in vain. I will get you all.”

McGregor (19-3), as previously mentioned, is looking to rebound after his upset loss to the longtime UFC veteran Diaz at UFC 196, when the Irishman was caught with a 1-2 combo from the Gracie jiu-jitsu black belt flush on the chin and was subsequently choked out after a poor takedown attempt.

‘Notorious’ has brought in a variety of professional boxing and world jiu-jitsu champions in preparation for Diaz’s well-rounded skill set, and will collide with his brash rival once again in the main event of UFC 202 in Vegas next month.

Some unfinished business at the Irishman’s championship weight class of 145 pounds still lingers as well, as former featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo once again holds gold in the division and is certainly next in line to get the next crack at ‘The Notorious One”.

McGregor’s last appearance at 145 pounds was in impressive one to say the least, as he ended Aldo’s decade of dominance in a staggering 13-seconds with a perfectly placed counter-left hand to shut the Brazilian’s lights out for the first time in his storied career.

Aldo McGregor 1It should be interesting to see how McGregor performs following his first loss under the UFC banner, as he seems to be preparing for his upcoming welterweight contest with Diaz in a rather obsessive fashion.

Diaz and McGregor will meet in the headliner of UFC 202 live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20, 2016.
