Conor McGregor interview

What he’ll do differently in a Khabib rematch:

“I believe we overestimated his grappling severely, and we also underestimated his striking. So, there are things we will correct. I will go on the offensive from a grappling standpoint. I believe I was winning the clinch exchanges in round three of the bout. But it was too little too late in the bout. Also, my lack of commitment – I wasn’t as fully committed as I should be carrying injuries and whatnot. So there’s many many things we can improve and sharped up when the rematch happens.”

“For me, when I left the arena, I was just watching the bout repeatedly over and over and over again. And that’d it, just analyzing the sequences, the moments. And then, referring them to the training camp, what we were doing in training. What was not necessary, what was necessary, exactly like I was speaking on earlier. Analyze what went right, what went wrong, make amends, and carry on. We will continue and we will make this right, no doubt.”

I just want to compete:

“Funny enough, I just want to compete now. I was trying to get the December 14 card, for whatever reason they’ve been holding me back. I’m giving them dates. I’m saying I want to fight this date, this date, this date, this date, in a row. And we have opponents selected and everything. They’re just making it very difficult for whatever reason. So now, I’m kind of in a position where, I’m attempting to set up an event – a charity event. I’ve done this before in my hometown but I’ve done it in an amateur boxing event in my old boxing club, Crumlin Boxing Club. But I want to do it in mixed martial arts also. Create an event, find an opponent, compete, zero prize. I do not care about the prize. The prize is in my home. I have five prizes in my home that I seek to get. I got them. I just want to compete now. I want to come back, I want to get sharp, I want to show the best of myself and continue to climb. That’s what I am seeking to do. So we are looking to do sometime in December, hopefully have a charity mixed martial arts event. For zero prize, the prize will go to charity. So that’s what we are aiming for.

Valentina sparking Cejudo:

“”I’d go Valentina Shevchenko. I tell you what, that Shevchenko, that woman – the Shevchenko sisters are phenomenal fighters. Valentina is unbelievable. One of the greatest female fighters there ever was. So I would say Valentina, with the length and the range and the dangerous strikes, would probably spark Henry.”

What will be his next career:

“My next career? I don’t know. I’m still enjoying the careers I have chosen. The fight game, the whiskey game, the fashion game. Maybe Hollywood down the line, who knows? We’ll see what happens. I’ve been putting that off for many years and I’m not really that interested in it just yet. You never know what’s down the line. Maybe the WWE? I’ve had a bit of beef with those guys over the years. But I’m enjoying the fight game. I’m still very young in the fight game, I’m 31-years of age, just gone, very limited damage I have taken, and I’ve very very eager to compete. I find myself – I find it hard to believe I would drift into another craft so easily. I am a fighter born and bred.”
