Just a few months ago, it was announced that the UFC had signed a huge deal with Reebok, who would become the UFC’s official apparel brand and be making the all new UFC uniforms which are set to premiere in July. Since then, Reebok has quickly signed on some of the UFC’s biggest stars to help grow their brand inside of MMA. This included women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.

Tonight (January 14, 2015) it was announced that the Reebok had signed yet another superstar and it is none other than the outspoken Irish Bad boy, “The Notorious” Conor McGregor. McGregor has seen a triumphant rise in the UFC, quickly becoming one of the promotions most marketable fighters. He announced the news via his twitter account:

Apparently, it was McGregor’s work ethic and passion which earned him this blockbuster deal:

“Conor’s hard work, determination and confidence have gotten him to where he is today,” Reebok Brand President Matt O’Toole said in a press release. “His passion and his commitment to continual self-improvement are a true reflection of the Reebok brand.”

The brash Irish star is always one to say what’s on his mind, and he has always made it clear that he loves his job with the UFC because he gets to beat up opponents and collect checks. Appearing on tonight’s edition of UFC Tonight, “The Notorious” one joked about the money he will be earning with analyst Kenny Florian and expressed his feelings towards his new partnership:

“You smell that money, Kenny? I partnered with Reebok, it’s a big step in my career, and I’m honored to be with this brand. This is a big deal for myself, and of course with the partnership Reebok and the UFC have, I am honored to be one of the athletes that Reebok has chosen to get behind. And Sunday night I will prove that by going out they to perform in phenomenal style.”

Although this is without a doubt the biggest deal of his young UFC career, this isn’t the only huge sponsorship deal McGregor has been a part of. He has carried a deal with Dethrone Royalty Brand in which he was provided a monthly stipend and royalties based on sales. The surging featherweight’s shirts with the company were widely popular and most likely produced large sums of income which is a good sign for Reebok.

The Irish superstar will look to continue his rise up the featherweight rankings this Sunday (January 18, 2015) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 59 as he takes on No. 10-ranked Dennis Siver. A win over Siver would put McGregor right in line for a title shot against Jose Aldo later this year.

Do you see “The Notorious” one eventually wearing UFC gold, which would arguably make this deal that much more valuable.
