The man known as ‘The Mountain’ stopped by to see UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor and welterweight Gunni Nelson at SBG Dublin….

As one of the tallest fighters in the UFC featherweight division, it’s not often you see interim champion Conor McGregor dwarfed in a stand off. With wins over guys like Marcus Brimage, Chad Mendes and Diego Brandao, ‘The Notorious’ is usually the giant in the arena of combat.

McGregor had a visitor to the Straight Blast Gym in Dublin, Ireland this week, and it’s fair to say he is one of the biggest men you’ll ever see. Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson, known for his role as ‘The Mountain’ in the popular TV series Game Of Thrones swung by to do some training with McGregor, and the Irish featherweight boss posted some pictures of his ‘Bare-knuckle Brawl’ to Twitter:

Björnsson also posted the following picture to his Instagram:

Had a good day today with these champs @gunninelson & @thenotoriousmma !

The crossover between combat sports and TV/movies is commonplace throughout history, and McGregor himself has expressed interest in becoming a star on the big screen. Fighting is not a life long career for many athletes in the game, at least not nowadays anyway.

McGregor’s huge Irish following, and global sensationalising would make him an easy sell in a well budgeted movie, perhaps he and Ronda Rousey could make the MMA version of Lethal Weapon? No?

Stay tuned.
