The official UFC rankings have been shook up in a big way…

After the madness of UFC 205 on November 12, we now have the first ever two-weight simultaneous champion. Although the betting offices had it on close odds, Conor McGregor ran through Eddie Alvarez like a man possessed. For all his experience at the top level, ‘The Silent Assassin’ could do little more than last eight minutes. Alvarez’s coach Mark Henry would later compare McGregor to Babe Ruth, claiming he would KO Floyd Mayweather.

As history was made by the infamous Irish star, the rankings got shook up. ‘The Notorious’ improved massively on the pound-for-pound list. Now occupying the second place, McGregor moved ahead of Daniel Cormier and Dominick Cruz. Arguably one of the greatest champs ever, only Demetrious Johnson tops McGregor in the P4P rankings. Here’s the shift in order of the official P4P rankings after UFC 205, as well as ramifications at light, welter and middleweight.

McGregor, Cyborg, Khabib & Yoel

Looking at the lightweight division, Khabib Nurmagomedov leapfrogs Tony Ferguson after his UFC 205 win. Defeating Michael Johnson in a one-sided affair, ‘The Eagle’ is ow the number one lightweight contender. Cris Cyborg rockets up four spots to break in to the top 10 of the P4P elite. Smashing Chris Weidman with a bloody knockout, Yoel Romero is also number one in his category.

With Miesha Tate retiring, Ronda Rousey was promoted to the number one contender spot at women’s bantamweight. Nurmagomedov also debuts in the number 15 spot in the P4P rankings with his 24th straight victory. After his thrilling majority draw against Tyron Woodley, Stephen Thompson solidifies his #1 status.

Fights To Make

Obviously a collision between McGregor and Nurmagomedov would make sense, but there’s beef brewing elsewhere. The Irish star has been engaging in trash talk with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, and the temptation of a third belt could prove defining. ‘Soldier of God’ vs. Bisping, of course, but Cris Cyborg’s next move is puzzling.
