04 kyle kingsbury def fabio maldonado 386Saturday’s TUF 13 Finale was truly a mixed bag of fights. From epic finishes to stand up battles and grappling clinics, the event had something for everybody. The co-main event between Anthony Pettis and Clay Guida was expected to be a battle for the ages. Both fighters with clashing styles going head to head for a chance at the Lightweight championship. If Anthony Pettis won that fight he would get the WEC / UFC unification bout he’s been waiting for. If Clay Guida wins he’ll finally get his shot after five years fighting in the promotion. With so much at stake and on the line that night, thanks to our friends from Compustrike we are able to take a deeper look at the numbers from the fight.

Anthony Pettis may have landed more strikes on both the feet and ground with 48/90 (53%), but it was Clay Guida’s wrestling that won him the bout. “The Carpenter” attempted 7 takedowns and 6 of those were successful. Guida was also able to get dominate position 3 times during the fight as well. 9:52 was the amount of time spent on the ground.

Before Ramsey Nijem was finished by Tony Ferguson late in the first round, Ramsey threw 16/53 (30%) strikes, and 1:14 was spent on the ground.

Ed Herman only needed to throw 9/19 (47%) to finish Tim Credeur in devistating fashion in the first round.

Fabio Maldonado was able to land 79 out of 168 punches (47%) in a losing effort to Kyle Kingsbury. 28 of those landed punches were power shots.

The bout between Chris Cope and Chuck O’Neil spent zero time on the ground for all three rounds. Chris Cope threw 229 strikes but only managed to land 85.
