Yesterday, the MMA world was rocked by the finding that former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw had relinquished the title due to an adverse finding in a USADA drug test. Cody Garbrandt apparently knows a thing or two about that.

“The Viper” was suspended for one year and fined $10,000 by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC). More importantly, however, he was in a terrible spot with no titles only two months after unsuccessfully attempting to become a two-division champion. Henry Cejudo knocked him out in only 32 seconds in their flyweight title bout on January 19 from Brooklyn, NY.

With the sport understandably exploding at the shocking news, ‘The Messenger’ himself issued a statement where he was all class. Cejudo felt he truly felt bad for Dillashaw and levied prayers towards him and his family. The former champ’s previous rival was not so nice, however.

Fellow former UFC bantamweight ruler Cody ‘No Love’ Garbrandt only sent out a simple tweet, but the message was clear it wasn’t as supportive as Cejudo’s:

Sign Of PEDs?

What’s more, ‘No Love’ apparently called this one some time back. Prior to their first meeting at UFC 217 in 2017, where Dillashaw knocked Garbrandt out, ‘No Love’ said Dillashaw actually showed his former Team Alpha Male how to use steroids (via Bloody Elbow):

“Oh yeah, the guy’s on everything. He’s on everything. You’re the one that showed everyone how to do it on Team Alpha Male. Look at him, he has nothing to say.”

Dillashaw later knocked out Garbrandt again at August 2018’s UFC 227. You could claim it’s a case of sour grapes, and TAM has bad blood with their former friend Dillashaw. But ‘No Love’ called this one long ago no matter what. It looks rather poignant in hindsight. As to what’s next for Dillashaw, he’ll face his day in court with USADA. ‘The Viper’ could receive a suspension that’s much longer than the yearlong ban he currently serves.

And statements like this will most likely be looked into. They can’t be good news for the suddenly spiraling bantamweight contender.
