Chris Weidman: Vitor Belfort Is Still Cheating, I’m Gonna Make Him Pay

After a year of failed drug tests, injuries, and rescheduling’s, middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort will finally fight for the belt in the co-main event of tonight’s (Sat., May 23, 2015) UFC 187 pay-per-view (PPV) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two fighters nearly came to blows at last night’s weigh-ins, and soon thereafter we found out why. Weidman was livid at an earlier report that stated Belfort had a 12 ng/ml testosterone level in a March drug test taken during his training camp. Belfort was tested again on April 28 and had testosterone levels of 5 ng/ml. By comparison, Weidman had a level of 3.7 ng/ml in both of his tests in late March and on April 27.

The controversial veteran had weaned off of testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT) following a tepid 2013 where he knocked out all three of his foes via head kick.

Not surprisingly, Weidman was angered by ‘The Phenom’s’ supposed cheating of the system, and he voiced his frustration to Joe Rogan directly after the weigh-ins (courtesy of MMA Fighting):

According to Weidman, it’s clear that a 38-year-old fighter shouldn’t have a higher testosterone level than his as a man nearly ten years younger:

“I left him alone with this whole drug-test thing,” Weidman said. “But then we just found out during camp he had a 1200 testosterone score. I’m 10 years younger than him and he’s got a way higher testosterone level. This guy is still cheating. I’m gonna make him pay for it tomorrow night.”

Weidman then met up with Ariel Helwani for an interview, and the champ was still noticeably angry:

Although he acknowledged that Belfort is no doubt a dangerous competitor, he said he’s simply sick of seeing Belfort breaking the rules and getting away with it:

“He’s a dangerous fighter, and he brings a lot to the table, but I don’t give a crap. It’s going to be a competition tomorrow night, but it’s messed up what he’s doing.”

The undefeated champ then offered up his prediction that he would finish the fight “any way he wants, early,” showing a more angry side that we’ve never seen before, even in the face of extreme taunting from Anderson Silva.
