Cheick Kongo and Stefan Struve campaign for UFC 156 battle
The UFC 156 card is a hot topic these days as fighters are trying their hardest to land on the Super Bowl weekend card. Cheick Kongo and Stefan Struve are both jockeying for a slot on the card against one another thanks to Twitter.
After a fan suggested it on the social media outlet, both Kongo and Struve agreed that the fight would be a good idea. Now it’s a matter of making it happen. The only issue is that Kongo isn’t really on Dana White‘s good side these days after initially turning down a fight against Daniel Cormier on the later cancelled November 3rd Strikeforce card and then later shuttering a TUF finale scrap with Roy Nelson. Both Kongo and White have different opinions on the latter.
“I did NOT REFUSE to FIGHT Roy Nelson,” Kongo tweeted. “I REFUSED to TAKE A FIGHT on SHORT NOTICE. Which is NOT THE SAME AT ALL.”
But White felt that it didn’t matter who it was, turning down a fight not once, but twice is all bad in his book.
Nevertheless, Kongo is currently 4-1-1 in his last six fights and could make an interesting fight for the 6’11” Struve, who is currently on a four fight winning streak and beginning to knock on the #1 contender door.
Let’s just see if this fight happens.
