Charles Oliveira vs. Nik Lentz II May Finally Happen

UFC featherweights Charles Oliveira and Nik Lentz have some unfinished history that needs some closure. The two men originally met years back in June 2011 at UFC Live: Kongo vs. Barry. The bout was unfortunately deemed a no-contest after Lentz suffered an illegal knee from his Brazilian opponent.

Years later, the two were scheduled to rematch last fall, but the bout ended up falling apart. Oliveira fell ill, missed weight and was forced out of the fight due to medical reasons. However, it seems as if the two haven’t seen the last of each other.

UFC tonight’s Ariel Helwani reported on Wednesday’s edition (March 18, 2015) that the UFC is considering booking Oliveira vs. Lentz once again. Apparently the targeted card is a UFC Fight Night card which is set for May 30, 2015. The card currently does not have a headliner, or a venue.

The bout has not been confirmed by the UFC just yet, but according to Helwani, this is the track the promotion is going towards.

Lentz has won four out of his last five, with his only loss being a one-sided decision to former title challenger and top contender Chad “Money” Mendes back at UFC on FOX 9 in December 2013. He will look to build another winning streak in the stacked featherweight division if this bout comes to fruition.

Olveira on the other hand, is riding a three-fight win streak, with two submissions, dating back to February 2014. The Brazilian has strung together wins over Andy Ogle, Hatsu Hioki, and Jeremy Stephens.
