Cesar Gracie: Diaz will take the Silva fight if GSP is not interested
“We’re pushing for the GSP fight. That’s what we’re going to push for, GSP or Anderson Silva. That’s the two fights that interest us the most, and that’s the one’s we’re going for.
[Silva’s] people are into it. We’re into it. The fans, I think, would be into it. We’ve got convince Dana [White] about it now. Obviously the fight that makes sense to them, and I don’t disagree, is Anderson-GSP, and like I said, I would watch that fight. That would be great to watch. But let’s get real. If GSP just absolutely says no, then what? You can’t make a guy fight. That’s the thing. And Anderson, if they want to promote a superfight and if the stars align, I think Nick would be into it.” – mmafighting.com
Cesar Gracie added some fuel to the superfight fire, claiming that Nick Diaz would take the fight if St. Pierre decides to decline Anderson Silva’s challenge. Diaz is currently in process of re-obtaining his fighter license in the state of Nevada, but the rumors about his future inside the Octagon are already spreading like a wildfire.
Diaz is much bigger than Georges St. Pierre, but still smaller than Anderson Silva. Interestingly enough, Nick Diaz previously decided not to move up in weight classes for a fight with Jason “Mayhem” Miller, when their feud was one of the hottest topics in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
UFC President Dana White stated on numerous occasions that Diaz will not get an immediate title shot upon his return. Diaz will have to prove his worth against a top-ranked welterweight, before going for the title, or getting inside the cage with the number one Pound-for-Pound MMA fighter on the planet.
Nick Diaz is currently 26-8 in MMA.
