Boxing history will finally be made tonight (Sat., May 2, 2015) when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao square off in their long-awaited super fight from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It’s a fight that has been talked about for years and years but never came to fruition due an impasse in the contract negotiations between the two sides. And even though most believe that it’s happening when both elite fighters are nearly out of their respective primes, no boxing match has generated this kind of hype and interest for many, many years.
As the rare boxing fight that fans casual and hardcore alike will shell out a staggering $100 just to watch on pay-per-view (PPV), a true crossover event will go down in the fight capital of the world this evening. Mike Tyson may believe it’s ‘like a library,’ and UFC President Dana White may believe that ‘it’s not what it’s cracked up to be,’ but the fact remains that it truly is.
Mayweather is an undefeated champion who has looked nothing but untouchable throughout his illustrious career, and Pacquiao is the likable, religious hero with the weight of the Filipino nation on his shoulders.
