Carlos Condit vs. Thiago Alves Rumored For UFC Fight Night 67

Formerly a top welterweight contender and former interim champion, “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit has been out of action for 11-months now due to a torn ACL he suffered in a March 2014 loss to now top contender Tyron Woodley. Condit recently said that he was eying a May return and it now looks as if he has a date and a potential opponent.

According to MMAJunkie, sources are saying that Condit will return to action at UFC Fight Night 67 on May 30, 2015 against former title challenger Thiago “The Pitbull” Alves. This fight was recently rumored, and although it has not been confirmed by the UFC just yet, it looks as if it has come to fruition.

The venue for this card has not yet been announced either, but sources are saying it looks as if the event will go down in Brazil.

“The Natural Born Killer”, currently ranked No. 11 in the welterweight rankings, was actually riding an unfortunate losing skid before being injured. Condit is just 1-3 in his last four fights including loses to former champions Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks, as well as Woodley. A fight with Alves would be a good tune up fight for Condit to see where he stands in the division.

Alves has also suffered his fair share of injuries throughout his career. He recently returned from a 25-month layoff last April and scored a decision win over Seth Baczynski. More recently, “The Pitbull” scored a devastating TKO win over the dangerous Jordan Mein at January’s UFC 183. A fight with Condit will be a clear step up in completion for Alves, and a chance to prove he is amongst the division’s elite.
