Carlos Condit Aiming To Return At UFC 187 In May
One of the most exciting welterweights in the UFC today, six-time bonus winner and former interim champion Carlos Condit has finally got a return date. “”The Natural Born Killer” suffered a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and partially torn meniscus in his last outing, a UFC 171 outing against Tyron Woodley, and has been sidelined following surgery since.
Speaking during a recent video interview with MMAWeekly, Condit outlines his timetable for return:
Quotes per MMAMania:
“I don’t have a fight just booked, but I do have a target date, I am going to try to get on the card here in May in Vegas. I don’t think the headline has been announced, that’s my timeline. “I don’t have an opponent in mind,” stated Carlos. “My division is pretty matched up at this point, so we’ll see how those fights play out and I’ll have a better idea.”
“The rehab is long and tedious, but I am back and I’m training at 100-percent. I feel good,”
One fight that needs to happen, for my money, is a rematch with Tyron Woodley. “The Chosen One” was recently seen eeking by Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 183, and I don’t feel like the injury TKO he scored against Condit last year was convincing in any way.
Carlos Condit beat Nick Diaz for the interim belt during Georges St-Pierre‘s absence from the division, losing a decision once “Rush” returned. Many felt his decision loss to Johnny Hendricks could have gone either way, and “NBK” still resides at the #4 spot in the rankings even with his near-year long absence from fighting.
Who would you like to see “The Natural Born Killer” take on upon his anticipated return?
