While there is a good portion of fighters that are in a relationship with a fellow MMA fighter, there are not many that both fight in the UFC and even less that will fight on the exact same card and corner each other.

Both Bryan Caraway and Miesha Tate fought and cornered one another at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 16.

Bryan Caraway met Eddie Wineland opened the FOX preliminary bouts at UFC on FOX 16, which he won by unanimous decision.

On the flip side, Miesha Tate met Jessica Eye in a women’s bantamweight bout as the co-main event of UFC on FOX 16 and won the fight by unanimous decision.

A win that found her to become the number one contender for the bantamweight championship and will fight the winner of Ronda Rousey – Bethe Correira at Saturday’s UFC 190 event.

“I actually didn’t want her to corner me,” Caraway said following the event. “I was worried. I didn’t want her to have an adrenaline dump at all. Just from the crowd or seeing everything or if something happened during my fight. I didn’t want her to worry. Even if she was mentally okay I didn’t want that natural hormone to have that adrenaline dump and affect her in her fight. But she told me, ‘You’ve always been there for me and I’m going to be there for you, no matter what.’ I wasn’t going to argue with her. You don’t argue with her.”

“Once he won, it was great. But I knew that, no matter what happened, I was going to separate my fight from his fight emotionally. That’s something we get a lot of practice with anyway, being a couple inside the gym. We have to separate things. It’s something that I feel like I’m really good at. It’s not the first time we fought on the same card together. But it is the first time that we fought in the UFC together and cornered each other on the same night. It was a little more stressful than normal, but we were both super motivated. And I felt like I had a lot of positive energy.”
