For the first time in over four years, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight title holder Brock Lesnar (6-3) stepped inside the Octagon at UFC 200. His opponent was knockout specialist Mark Hunt (12-11-1).

Despite being away from mixed martial arts for almost five years, Lesnar defeated the eighth ranked heavyweight in the world.

Lesnar bounced around early and kept his distance. A leg kick landed for the former heavyweight kingpin. Lesnar ducked a punch and thought better of going for a takedown. Another leg kick found the mark for Lesnar. He chased down “Super Samoan” and took him down. Hunt returned to his feet, but had his back against the fence. Lesnar took down his opponent again and was in side control. Lesnar kneed Hunt in the body and dropped some heavy punches. Hunt got up, but was dumped back down and Lesnar was in full mount with about 15 seconds left in the round.

The second round began and Lesnar kept his distance. Hunt went for an overhand right, but Lesnar avoided damage. A takedown attempt was thwarted by Hunt. “Super Samoan” swung for the fences, but Lesnar ducked under. The action definitely slowed down as Hunt looked for a big shot and Lesnar searched for a chance to take his opponent down. The former champion pushed Hunt against the cage and kept him there until the round ended.

Early in the final frame, Lesnar blocked some shots and took Hunt down. It was his fourth takedown of the fight. Lesnar landed some punches on the ground. Lesnar moved to half guard and rained down some more strikes. The former champion achieved the mount position and connected with some hard shots. Blood appeared on the left side of Hunt’s face. The horn mercifully sounded for Hunt and it was clear that Lesnar had won in his UFC return.
