Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Cormier Timeline Set

Brock Lesnar Cormier

Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Cormier appears to be still in the plans of the UFC. This is a fight that the Las Vegas-based promotion has been trying to make for some time now. It turns out that they actually have a timeline set for it now.

According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on SportsCenter, the UFC is planning to do the fight in August. That means it would be Cormier’s next title defense as the UFC heavyweight champion.

Thus, it appears this fight could take place at the upcoming UFC 240 pay-per-view event, which has yet to have a location or date announced.

The UFC heavyweight champion was able to successfully retain his title over Derrick Lewis at UFC 230. This fight served as the main event of the PPV at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Lesnar’s last fight under the UFC banner came back at UFC 200 in July of 2016 against Mark Hunt. This marked Lesnar’s return to MMA after an almost five-year retirement. Lesnar won by a unanimous decision that night. It was subsequently overturned when it was revealed he failed two USADA-issued drug tests before the bout.

Lesnar is still fulfilling obligations with the WWE as he signed a new contract in November. Despite this, he is allowed a single fight in the UFC. Lesnar is slated to defend the WWE universal title against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35 this Sunday in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.
