Brock Lesnar on Fedor: He’s the greatest Champion in his own little World, I hope he retires

Speaking at the UFC 116 Media Conference Call, UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar made it crystal clear how he feels about the legendary Fedor Emelianenko. Answering on the question about never having the opportunity to fight “The Last Emperor” before he retires, here is what Lesnar had to say:

“Good for Fedor. I hope he does retire. He’s the greatest champion of all-time. He’s the greatest champion ever, of all-time, in his own little world. Good for him. I can beat him… I can beat absolutely anybody.”

Lesnar is currently 4-1 in his MMA career, with a victories over Min Soo-Kim, Heath Herring, Randy Couture and Frank Mir. Brock Lesnar will square off against Shane Carwin on July 3rd in Las Vegas, almost a year after his last fight against Frank Mir at the milestone UFC 100 event.

Here is some of the best bits from the yesterday’s media call:

Lesnar on Batista: “Get in line, everybody [Dave Batista] and their dog wants to get into fighting. Next question. We’re talking about a heavyweight championship fight, not some wannabe.”

Shane Carwin on Fedor: “I think it’s unfortunate that he didn’t join the UFC, but I’m not concerned with anything Fedor’s doing right now. I got Brock ahead of me and that’s all I’m focused on. The UFC is the NFL of mixed martial arts. The best of the best.”

Lesnar on his time at the Hospital: “To wake up every day, being on all them drugs and not be able to put any food in your mouth, yeah you definitely take a different approach on life. You realize there’s nothing more important in life than your family and you really find out who your friends are. I felt like I was on my death bed, I really did, because I was very sick. This illness, it kills a lot of people and it’s one of these things I never knew I had.

At the time I didn’t even know if I wanted to fight again. Everything was in the air, because I had lost so much weight. I thought I was going to have to have major surgery and have part of my colon removed. That would have been a two-year process for me to even come back from. So I really feel like I’m a cat with nine lives. I think I’ve got about eight left.”

Lesnar on Carwin: “I know what my credentials are. Shane knows what his are. I think mine outweigh his and I think my hand’s going to get raised on July 3. And he probably feels the same thing. But that’s the beauty of this fight game. We’ll have to see what happens July 3.”

There’s a lot of similarities, but he’s a little better looking than I am. I’ll give that to him and that’s about it.”

Carwin about never going to decision: “I’m a never-give-up person.  I want to get in there and I want to fight, that’s my mentality and my attitude.  My fights don’t go to decisions and I’m proud of that.”
