Brandon Vera: I am going to submit Jon Jones
Brandon Vera (11-4) will try to bounce back from a close decision loss to Randy Couture by defeating the unpredictable Jon Jones (9-1) on March 21. Vera believes that even if the Greco-Roman wrestling, Jon Jones, trys to take him down, he will get submitted.
“You take me to the ground this year, your’re going to get submitted,” Vera said. “I’ll tell you that much right now.”
However, Vera’s strategy is too go to-to-toe with Jones as he feels this fight is going to be a technical stand up war rather than a ground fight.
“We’re going to bang man. I don’t think he’ll take me to the ground,” Vera commented about Jones. “He’s with a new camp, he’s with (Greg) Jackson’s and them. They’re good game plan people so he might try to take me to the ground, but I tell you this much in 2010, my jiu-jitsu game I’ve been tightening back up. Jones, he’s got the skills; he’ll stand with me. Somebody’s going to go to sleep.”
The two will face off in the first ever UFC Versus card, that card also features Dos Santos vs Gonzaga and Kongo vs Buentello.
