Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra I UFC 69

Leading up to UFC 69, Matt Serra won the previous season of TUF and won a title shot against GSP. The majority of fans assumed Serra would be slaughtered, but he turned in one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. 

During the first rounds of the title fight, Matt Serra found a home for his right hand. He uncorked multiple power rights to put down the champion and shock the world. 

This was truly one of the biggest underdog moments in combat sports history.

Julianna Pena vs. Amanda Nunes I UFC 269

For years, Julianna Pena was calling for a fight against the queen of MMA in Amanda Nunes. Pena claimed she had the formula to beat the champ and she was proven right at UFC 289.

“The Venezuelan Vixen” delivered one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. She jumped on the champ early and dominated her with superior grappling before locking in an RNC in the 2nd round. Dethroning the queen and becoming the new women’s bantamweight champ.

Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman I UFC 162

Next on the list of the biggest upsets in UFC history took place at UFC 162. Challenger Chris Weidman had the tall task of facing the then P4P best in Anderson Silva.

Weidman showed no fear of the MMA GOAT and found a home for his right hand. Silva tried to play off the initial strike, but was hit with another that dropped him and ended the fight. Chris took out the middleweight king and became the champion.

Holly Holm vs. Ronda Rousey I UFC 193 

During the height of Ronda Rousey’s stardom, the MMA press had propped her up as unbeatable. However, veteran fans knew that Ronda had yet to face a striker the caliber of former boxing champion Holly Holm.

“The Preacher’s Daughter” put on the performance of her career and delivered the head kick heard around the world. Knocking the champ out cold and giving us one of the biggest upsets in UFC history.

Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor I UFC 196

Coming into UFC 196, Nate Diaz was a last minute replacement to face the UFC’s top star in Conor McGregor. This was the fight that turned Nate into a huge star and started one of MMA’s biggest feuds.

Diaz took McGregor’s best shots before taking the Irishman to the ground and unleashing a beating. The Stockton native took Conor’s back and locked in an RNC to shock the world.

Sean Strickland vs. Israel Adesanya I UFC 293

One of the biggest upsets in UFC just happened recently at UFC 293. Sean Strickland was a late replacement to face the champ and many assumed he’d lose. 

However, Strickland had other plans as he delivered the fight of his life. He beat the champion for five straight rounds to shock the world and win the title.
