Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman
Last year, MMA fans were gifted with one of the best comeback wins in UFC history. At UFC 278, Leon Edwards faced Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight title.
This was a rematch between the two top fighters, which many fans believed Usman would easily win. They Seemed right as Usman controlled and beat Edwards for over four rounds.
Then out of nowhere in the beginning of the fifth round, Edwards landed the head kick heard round the world. Leon knocked the champ out cold with arguably the best comeback win in MMA history.
Cheick Kongo vs. Pat Barry
In 2011, Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry treated fans to one of the craziest fights of all time. For over two minutes, Barry barraged Kongo with power strikes that nearly took him out.
Somehow, the French heavyweight held on and delivered one of the best comeback wins in UFC history. Kongo regained his footing and unloaded a powerful right hand that put Barry out cold. Over a decade later and fans still talk about this unbelievable fight.
Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen 1
Going into UFC 148, there was a lot of hype for Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen. The challenger Chael had talked up the fight and promised to take Silva out.
Sonnen almost did just that as he dominated the champion for almost five rounds. Silva was down on the scorecards and needed a stoppage to win the fight.
In the fifth round, Chael made a crucial error and gave up a triangle choke to Silva. The trash talking master was forced to tap and Silva miraculously retained his title.
Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin
At UFC 116, fans were treated to one of the best comeback wins in UFC history. Heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar faced his toughest test against the powerful KO artist Shane Carwin.
In the first round, Lesnar was on the receiving end of a terrible beating from Shane Carwin. For the first five minutes, Carwin was on top of the champion and nearly ended the fight multiple times.
Unfortunately for Carwin, he was completely gassed going into the next round. The fresh champion was able to quickly take Shane down and submit him with an arm triangle to retain.
Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate
In 2016, Holly Holm was on top of the world going into UFC 196. She had just knocked out Ronda Rousey and was the heavy favorite against Miesha Tate.
Aside from an early takedown from Tate, the champion was leading on the scorecards going into the fifth. Miesha needed to finish the fight and she delivered one of the best comeback wins in UFC history.
Tate was able to get Holm’s back and submit her in the fifth round to shock the world and become champion.
